Today's the day! In case you've been living under a rock, the boys were invited to play the first rock show at the new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Venue looks great and everyone is ready to take it to the next level tonight.
Avenged Sevenfold & Volbeat are opening the show. You'll also be able to listen to an audio stream of the show at smarturl.it/metinmn. If you live in the U.S., Australia or New Zealand, our friends at Pandora will be bringing the show to you. Everywhere else in the world will be able to listen thanks to LiveMetallica.com. Regardless of where you live, click smarturl.it/metinmn to listen. The stream should start around 9 PM Central Time.
Instead of constant Tour Journals throughout the day, follow the Social Stream of the show here. We'll be updating via the stream over the course of the day and we'll also be featuring select Tweets & Instagram posts using the #MetInMN hashtag. Also follow Metallica on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat for additional updates.
Happy Thursday to you all! Today brings you the MetOnTour video from the show on Record Store Day in Berkeley! Footage includes a loose, unplanned jam on "Helpless," a ripping performance of "Jump in the Fire" and a bit from the after party at the old El Cerrito Metalli-mansion.
Had a great time at Rasputin Music celebrating Record Store Day alongside some lucky Fifth Members as well as some very old friends from back in the day. Now over to the old Metallimansion in El Cerrito for an after party complete with cheap booze and shitty food. Setlist and pics and a vid of the entire gig are up...
Welcome to the first MetOnTour video for 2016! This 36 minute video covers Feb 5 (sound check day) and Feb 6 (show day). Footage includes the band in the meet and greet, sound check, photo shoot, Tuning Room, and Master from the show. Enjoy!
What a great night!!! 40,000 Metallica fans descended on AT&T Park in San Francisco to have a next level Super Bowl celebration. Too Heavy for Halftime, indeed! We hope you enjoyed the live stream - you'll be able to watch it on YouTube for another 24 hours so, if you want to go back and listen to "Ride the Lightning" or "The Memory Remains" again, go for it!
What a great way to kick off The Night Before! (wouldn't you agree for those of you watching the live stream?) And for those of you not watching the stream, set started with Creep, Bellz, Fuel, King, ride, Unforgiven, Memory, Sanitarium, and Sad just started. Roam is up next!
El Niño decided to take some time off to ensure that we had a beautiful day here in San Francisco. It's a busy day, as you can imagine, with over 40,000 people heading down to AT&T Park to see exactly why Metallica is #TooHeavyForHalftime.
Cage the Elephant is opening the gig tonight at 7 PM while Metallica is scheduled to hit the stage around 8:30 PM. As always, you can follow the Tour Journals and social media for updates but, if you want in on the action, point your browser to webcast.livemetallica.com for a free webcast of the show.
Had some fun down at AT&T Park tonight as the band made sure everything was in working order for tomorrow's gig. The crew has busted their asses getting the stage built and put together and the boys put it to the test tonight by inviting 300 Fan Club members and friends out to Sound Check.
There was no setlist... but there was some jamming on songs like "Bellz," "Puppetz" and "Sanitarium." There were some random riffs and jams thrown in like Mercyful Fate's "Curse of the Pharaohs," "Bleeding Me" and something that kind of resembled "Fixxxer."
The band had fun and it looked like everyone in the crowd enjoyed their once in a life time experience. Photos from sound check are up now... we'll see you back here tomorrow for "The Night Before" as Metallica shows the Bay Area why they were #TooHeavyForHalftime.
The road crew has been working hard all week building the stage and tonight the band is coming down to AT&T Park to make sure everything sounds good. The boys have invited 300 Fan Club members and friends to the venue to have a little soundcheck party. More to come...

Metallica just played it's third Rock In Rio show in 6 years, and as Lars said at the end of the night, they saved the best for last! Tonight's set contained the first King Nothing in Brazil since 1999, the first Unforgiven in Rio and first Whiskey in Rio. Setlist is up, pics to come...
Today we are in Rock In Rio, for their 30th Anniversary! This will be Metallica's 3rd trip to the Rio installment of the festival in 6 years (2011, 2013, 2015). On the main stage today, we have Gojira at 7pm, Royal Blood at 9pm, Mötley Crüe at 10:30pm and Metallica go on after midnight.
" ....you must be the loudest Metallica city on the planet!" said Lars at the end of the night.....and boy these last two shows the crowd did not disappoint. We had a couple key notes from tonight's setlist: first time that Unforgiven II and Frayed was performed in North America, first time Harive was performed this year, first time St. Anger has been played in North America since 2004, and the first time Creep opened the show since Glastonbury last year. Full setlist is up, pics to come...
