The top secret stop today in Berlin is revealed as we’ll be performing today on Circus HalliGalli today to be broadcast on November 21st on ProSieben. Following the taping of the show, we’ll stick around and play a few extra songs for 350 fans in the small intimate setting of the studio.
Just two weeks to go until Hardwired…To Self Destruct and we’re beyond excited that we’ll be spending the week of release with our friends in Europe and celebrating with you in a big way in London, England on November 17th and 18th with three very unique outings.
Less than three weeks now until all twelve new tracks from Hardwired…To Self-Destruct are cut loose for good and today we’re proud to bring you the third and final sneak peek from the album, “Atlas, Rise!” Hopefully, you will hear it on your local radio station and you can check out the video by Clark Eddy, our master editor and the unsung hero of the making-of-the-album “behind the scenes” clips that have graced Metallica.com and Mission Metallica over the years.
Greetings from Latin America and the first leg of many WorldWired tour dates to come over the next few years! As you may have already seen, we are kicking off 2017 with a visit to our friends in Asia and we’re psyched that the latest addition to that run of the tour is Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on January 22, 2017.
As we circle the globe spreading the Hardwired vibe, we’re super excited to announce that we’ll be making a very quick visit to our European friends in mid-November. While we’re there you can look for more of the same mix of activities we did in New York . . . some television appearances, maybe a live show (no hints yet!), connecting with a few old friends to chat about the new album and more. We’re honored that during our visit we've been asked to play on Le Grand Journal on Canal Plus TV in France on November 15th and we would like YOU to be our guest in the audience.
No surprises this time around! We’re giving you some heads up that we plan to unleash the next track from Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, “Atlas, Rise!” to you streaming online and via your favorite radio station this Halloween (October 31st) at noon PDT. This “…Sandman”, this sleekly lit, malevolent, low-slung lounge creature, might just have given a new twist, dimension, life and identity to one of the more classic pieces of popular American music of the last 25 or so years. It felt dark, so dark, and it felt like something David Lynch or Nick Cave or Cormac McCarthy would’ve been proud to give birth to. It was, and I mean this, sensational in the moment.
Updated with Steffan's remarks on Night #2!
For those of you schedule watching, you may have noticed a slight break in the action on this upcoming five-city Latin American tour... we can’t have that!! We thought it would be fun to take a slight detour between San Juan and Quito during those two days off and stop to visit our friends in Mexico City and pass on a little Hardwired... love. We’ll be there on October 27th and 28th chatting with a few journalists and playing the album for them and we want you to be a part of the action!
Monday we told you how excited we are to hit the ground running in 2017 with tour dates in Asia and we’re back today with a Metallica first – a show in Hong Kong! Thirty-five years and still beyond psyched to go to new frontiers, so this promises to be a very special night as we hit the stage at the AsiaWorld-Expo on January 20, 2017.
Voting is now open!
We were hanging at HQ getting ready to hit the road for the first dates on the WorldWired tour and had this crazy idea... how about you guys pick the opening acts for the October/November leg?!? It seems like a cool way to celebrate the return to some of our favorite places and we’ll get to check out what’s going on musically in your town. So with the help of our local promoter friends, you can be a part of shaping the show each night!
We’re excited to kick off 2017 with the first show of what promises to be a year taking us to all corners of the globe on the WorldWired Tour. The New Year will be just over a week old when we return to Seoul, South Korea on January 11, 2017 at the Gocheok Sky Dome for the first of six shows in that corner of the world... stay tuned for additional announcements in the coming days and weeks.

We promised we would be back very soon with an update and we didn’t wait too long! The ‘Tallica touring machine fires up again in late March of 2017 as we roll to South America for our first ever South American Lollapalooza experience.
We all knew, right? 30 years.
Me, you, and (of course) them...
So what better a way to honor Cliff than to go back to the front and play an old school club/small theater like New York City’s Webster Hall in front of a fan club audience (with some old friends too) and deliver an old school basher, a thrasher, a teeth gnasher, and a huge fat aural baseball bat reminder of what Metallica does. Not that the show date was planned as such, no no, but the serendipity of its timing could not have been better.
What, you wonder, was this exclusive (apparently very exclusive if some of the ticket scalp tweets I saw were accurate) gig really like? Was it really worth it? Was it really all that?
Yeah. Yeah it was. You see, the whole night was like a ginormous, positive time-warp, as if the entire jam-packed, heaving throng of sweaty Webster Hall-ites all stepped into a giant Tardis…
We’re back!! Welcome to track number two from Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, “Moth Into Flame.” As some of you accurately predicted, we gave it the first public spin while hanging out with our great friend Howard Stern this morning in his New York studio. Sitting and chatting with Howard is one our favorite things to do and we were honored that he offered to play it first and let us perform a few additional songs live while we were there. We’re also excited to debut the corresponding video directed by Tom Kirk of Muse fame.
We just walked off the stage at the Global Citizen show in New York’s Central Park and we had such a blast that we’re going to keep the good vibes rolling by adding another show to our New York run! This Tuesday, September 27th, we’ll be playing a special show for our Fifth Members only at the intimate Webster Hall and if you’re a member you have a chance to pick up tickets and join us.
Coming to you from New York City as we get ready to take the stage at the Global Citizen Festival this weekend. It’s been great to be here visiting with some old friends, making new ones talking about Hardwired...To Self-Destruct and guess what?? We’ve been invited back to chat with our great friend and always loyal Metallica supporter Howard Stern this Monday, September 26th and he’s even asked us play a few songs live!
Guess what?!? It’s DONE! We have put the finishing touches on our next album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct and are looking forward to the next phase of unleashing it to the world, waking the monster that is Metallica and hitting the road. Check out Lars' video as he marks off the last X on the famous whiteboard!
We’re also here to tell you about some changes we’ve made to the deluxe versions of Hardwired... in place of the previously announced “Riff Origins.”
It’s on!! As we put the finishing touches on Hardwired…To Self-Destruct we’re also getting ready to hit the road for the first of many headlining shows around the world. To kick it all off we’re returning to five cities we know will absolutely rock hard with all kinds of crazy Metalli-love and get this tour started right! First up we travel to Latin America with stops in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and Costa Rica. All the dates and ticket information, including pre-sales for the Fifth Members, is below. We can’t think of a better place to get the juices flowing and set the table for many more shows to come!
It is with great honor that we confirm that we have indeed been invited to join the incredible cast of musicians playing at the 30th Anniversary concert benefiting the Bridge School on October 22 and 23, 2016. This will be the third time that we hit the stage at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA to perform at the all acoustic shows and we’ll be joining Neil Young + Promise Of The Real, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews, case/lang /viers, Willie Nelson, My Morning Jacket, Norah Jones, Cage The Elephant and Nils Lofgren.
