Why is there a price difference between MP3, FLAC/ALAC and FLAC-HD/ALAC-HD downloads?

Lossless audio files, especially high-resolution files, are significantly larger than standard MP3 files. The extra costs cover the additional bandwidth needed to deliver a download.
